Founded in 910, Cluny Benedictine Abbey was supremely influential in Medieval Europe. Its rich sculpture, the remains of its abbey church – the largest in the Middle Ages – and the imposing monastic buildings from the 18th century bear witness to the artistic and cultural influence of the Order of Cluny over the West.
The Abbey offers a range of workshops on various subjects (architecture, statuary, iconography, calligraphy, heraldry and frescoes) to introduce visitors to Medieval culture and the monastic world.
